Nutrition Security on Long Island
Food insecurity is a significant issue on Long Island, leaving many vulnerable to nutrition insecurity. According to the NYS Department of Health report StatShots: Self-Reported Food Insecurity Among New York State Adults by County (2021), approximately 1 in 4 adults in NYS experience food insecurity. In Nassau County, 21.1% of adults report being food insecure; and in Suffolk County, 23.1% of adults report being food insecure.
