Suffolk County is a world-renowned destination. From the Hamptons to Fire Island to wine county to our amazing downtowns and world class beaches and waterfronts, we are a destination for tourism, businesses, recreation and living. The marathon will highlight the incredible communities, natural resources and businesses in Suffolk County, and boost economic activity into the region’s downtowns and local economies.
As a veteran himself, Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone has always made the enhancement of veteran services a priority. That is why the Suffolk County Marathon was designed to be a cost-neutral event with all net proceeds being used to support and expand veteran services in our County.
The marathon is being planned in conjunction with the Suffolk County Veterans Services Agency, Department of Public Works, Police Department, Fire Rescue and Emergency Services, New York State Department of Parks & Recreation, the Greater Long Island Running Club, local fire departments, civic groups, community organizations, chambers of commerce and elected officials at the Town, County and State level.
