Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP)

The mission of the Child and Adult Food Program (CACFP) is “to ensure that nutritious and safely-prepared meals and snacks are available to children and adults in day care settings.” The New York State Department of Health's Division of Nutrition administers the program and helps providers receive approval and reimbursement for these meals and snacks. Eligible providers include day care centers and day care home providers.

Just how many meals are served through the CACFP?

Between October 2016 and September 2017 there were an average of 11.2 million meals served each month. 4.1 million meals were served by day care home providers while day care centers served 7.1 million meals. Over 300,000 people participate in the CACFP daily.
