The Nassau-Queens PPS invites you to participate in a one-day training session on Motivational Interviewing (MI), an engagement technique that can be used by health care and social service professionals to support patients and clients in self-management and assist with health and social needs.
MI is a collaborative, patient-centered technique to elicit and strengthen motivation for change. MI can be used as a mechanism to help individuals identify priorities and engage in treatment and self-management activities. MI techniques provide a framework to guide discussions with patients and clients, and prompt patients to participate in decisions that affect their health.
Training is open to, but not limited to Community Health Workers, Health Coaches, care transition staff, nurses, social workers, care and case managers, hospital staff and community based practice staff.
Coffee, tea and lunch will be provided.
