Did you know that approximately 15% of adults aged 60 and over have a mental disorder? Or that over 1 million people in that same age group have a substance abuse disorder? This course focuses on the unique experiences of working to identify, understand and respond to mental illness and substance use disorders in older adults. It covers life changes that occur in older adults, a breakdown of psychosis, dementia and delirium, how to distinguish between talking about death and suicidal ideation, and how to communicate effectively with those who need help while using respectful language.

Coffee, tea and lunch will be provided.

Note: The class is 8 hours and you will receive a certificate upon completion
