Health & Safety Day will serve as a community event promoting healthy behaviors and lifestyle changes, and increasing education and awareness of public safety topics including pedestrian safety and sustainable transportation. The event will kick off Long Island Mobility Week, a week-long celebration where villages, towns, cities, counties and other organizations are invited to showcase their commitment to clean and sustainable transportation options. This event is free and open to the public.
Nurses from Good Samaritan Hospital will be on-site for blood pressure and health screenings, and a trauma nurse from Southside Hospital will discuss bicycle and pedestrian safety. Northwell Health physician, Puneet Gondotra of Southside Cardiology, will facilitate a 10-minute health discussion before leading us on a 60-minute walk around Argyle Lake and back to the Conklin House. New York Coalition for Transportation Safety staff will also be on-site to discuss the “rules of the road” for cyclists and pedestrians.
