Friends of Karen provides emotional, financial and advocacy support - at no cost - to New York tri-state area families who are caring for a child with cancer or another life-threatening illness, in order to keep them stable, functioning and able to cope. Founded in 1978 to raise funds needed for one terminally-ill child during the final stages of her illness, 38 years later 14,000 children and their families have received help from Friends of Karen.
Every year, more and more walkers and runners join the Friends of Karen team to support Friends of Karen's mission to provide emotional, financial and advocacy support for children with a life-threatening illness and their families in order to help keep them strong, functioning, and able to cope. New runners and walkers are always welcome to join our team. This event is a fun and easy way to become involved, meet new people, contribute to an important cause, share our mission and to know that when you cross that finish line with us YOU are helping families in our own communities.
