Community-Based Organization Summit Results

The Nassau County and Suffolk County Departments of Health and all Long Island hospitals, worked together with the Long Island Health Collaborative staff in order to collect data that would propel the Community Health Needs Assessment Cycle 2016-2018.

To gather qualitative data for these assessments, the Long Island Health Collaborative held two Community-Based Organization Summit February 2016. Hosting one in each each county with more than one hundred total organizations represented, facilitated discussions were used to gather information about the communities the attending organizations serve.

Results

Methodology - A breakdown of the analysis method, with the help of  qualitative data analysis software, ATLAS.ti.

Preliminary Results - In which the Prevention Agenda areas, ranked by county, rose to the top.

Nassau County Final Report - Final Nassau County report including project methodology, findings from qualitative analysis, and a list of participating organizations. This report should be used by community partners to support the need for specific programming or community interventions.

Suffolk County Final Report - Final Suffolk County report including project methodology, findings from qualitative analysis, and a list of participating organizations. This report should be used by community partners to support the need for specific programming or community interventions.

Tools

Participant pre-survey - Organizations attending the event were asked to give a brief overview on their mission, who they were sending as a representative, and the resources they provide to their community. 

Pre-survey responses - A collection of answers to the CBO Summit pre-surveys, including resources provided by individual organizations and the communities they serve.

Facilitator Script - After a focused training session, members of the Long Island Health Collaborative acted as facilitators for discussions among the CBOs, creating an open environment for dialogue and creating transcripts conducive to qualitative analysis.
